We purchased the pilows because of our planned flight from Europe to New Zealand (22000km, 26h onboard). On our 12h nonstop flight from Europe to Taiwan we ended 4 on 3 seats for the whole flight, as the aeroplain was completely full. I sincerely dont know how we would have slept without it. Also our 1y old stand on it so she could reach the screen and have some fun for a while.
On our 8h flight from Taiwan to Australia the aircraft was half empty, so we could use the pilows only as a barrier against falling down while sleeping for kids, so we could all sleep at once.
