Explore Singapore as a Family
Exploring the world as a family is a fantastic way to spend time together while learning more about different cultures and traditions. Singapore is a wonderful city to visit with your children, because there is plenty to do within both the large bustling city and the quieter parts of nature.
How to Get There
Singapore Airlines is the world's most family-friendly airline!
Their service is consistently impeccable which is a huge positive for parents, because even if the staff don’t want to help you, they’d never be rude enough to actually refuse to do so.
They were the first airline to officially approve the use of the Kooshy Kids Kooshsion as they clearly understand the importance of stress-free travel.
Gorgeous! Flying with Singapore Airlines using her Kooshy Kids Kooshion.
Kris World is Singapore Airlines’ entertainment system and features a Just For Kids channel for children aged up to 12 years. It has cartoons (including Dora the Explorer), kid’s movies and TV programs, Nintendo Gameboy and video games, which can be played against people in other seats. There is also an audio channel for kids featuring the latest children’s CDs and sound tracks. Parents can chose to block any program, although this needs to be done before flying.
Special meals for infants and children can be requested at the time of booking or up to 24 hours prior to departure. There are four types of infant and child meals to choose from: baby meals (0 -12 months), post –weaning (one to two years) and children’s meal (two to 11 years). Children’s meals are usually served before the adults.
Infants travel for 10 per cent of an adult’s fare, which does not provide a seat for the child. A child’s fare covers those aged two – 11 years and is 75 per cent of an adult fare.
Singapore Airlines definitely gets our vote for comfortable, stress-free direct flights from Australia to Singapore!

Where to Stay as a Family
There are plenty of hotel accommodations in Singapore, but you are going to want to choose one that has amenities that your entire family will love. Here are the hotels that Kooshy Kids loves in this fabulous city.
Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort
This luxury resort will give you a true beachfront experience in the middle of this massive city and more. You will all love the spectacular lagoon pool, although your kids may spend more time in the kids’ pool with the waterslides or at the kids’ club. The three on-site restaurants will ensure that you always have a great place to enjoy a meal at any hour of the day or night. They even have a specialised children's buffet!
Pan Pacific
The rooms at Pan Pacific Singapore can comfortably sleep a family of 4. The hotel prides itself on being family friendly and offer toys, cots and even playpens to be delivered to your room for use. They can also stock your room with children's amenities, baby bath products, nappies etc.
Onsite there is a playground and jungle gym, tennis courts (with instructors who can coach your children), kids' pool...and if you want some alone time, there is a baby-sitting service.
Marina Bay Sands
The rooms at Marina Bay Sands will accommodate families of any size, plus you can take advantage of their numerous family friendly amenities. The hotel has a shopping mall attached which is HUGE (I spent HOURS not to mention obscene amounts of $$$ here).
Your kids will want to spend hours in their kids’ pool and kids’ club, while you will want to relax in their world famous rooftop infinity pool.
Where to Eat as a Family in Singapore
Eating out with children can be an adventure, especially if you have fussy eaters. However, there are many restaurants in Singapore that have special menus for kids as well as play areas and activities to keep them busy, while you finish your meal in more than three bites.
The Bank Bar & Bistro
At first glance, you probably wouldn’t think this place is child-friendly... look closely at the picture below; sharing the space with elegant glasses and tumblers are colourful plastic tableware that can only mean one thing — your kids are welcome here!
This restaurant offers a variety of international and western dishes (as well as an array of grown up drinks). It has a nice ambience and offers great service.
Kids eat free on weekends and public holidays and the kids menu is really well though out. Most kids prefer to head to the playroom that is equipped with toys and a television.
Buffet Town at Raffles City Shopping Mall
There are more than three hundred food items to choose from at this buffet, so everyone in your family will be able to find something to fill their tummies! Once your kids are finished with their meal, they can venture over to the play area that is filled with basketball nets and space hoppers.
Hungry Heroes
Comic book loving kids who love classic foods will appreciate the burgers, racks of ribs, and chicken that is served at this restaurant. Both floors are filled with comic book hero memorabilia, so there is plenty to look at in between bites.
If your kids are in to super heroes then this is a MUST do!
Zaffron Kitchen
If you have slightly adventurous kids who will eat almost anything, then Zaffron Kitchen’s Indian food is a must-try during your trip to Singapore. They offer a non-spicy version for children, and you can spend time lingering over your meal as your kids play in the wooden playhouse and kids’ kitchen space.
What to Do as a Family in Singapore
There is no better place in the world to have fun than Singapore. In fact, you will find that there is so much for you and your family to do, that you would need to spend a month or longer there to do it all! Thankfully, we have narrowed it down to give you some of your best options.
- Universal Studios Singapore – This theme park has numerous rides that were specifically designed for this area, so you will not be able to ride them anywhere else in the world.
- Gardens by the Bay – Nighttime is the best time to experience this piece of paradise with your family, as everything lights up under the dark sky. Walk under the Supertree structures and around the seashell shaped greenhouses as you wander amongst the trees and plants.
- Singapore Night Safari – One thousand animals are waiting for you and your family to greet them within the more than fifty-nine exhibits during this adventure. You can walk along the trails or ride in the trams as you see these exotic animals up close.
- Bumboat Ride – Ride along the Singapore River as you pass through the city, seeing the old next to the new. It’s a great way to see the city in a new perspective.
- Battle Box – Most kids love loud noises and play those battle video games, so they will enjoy exploring the bunkers and bomb proof rooms of Battle Box. The audio-visual effects and animatronics will share how it was right before Singapore surrendered to the Japanese.
- Snow City – It is hot in Singapore all the time, and if you want to find a way to escape the heat for a while, you will want to go to Snow City. This indoor snow center is filled with snow and cold temperatures every day of the year. Your entire family can snow tube, ski, snowboard, hang out inside an igloo, or have a snowball fight to stay cool.
You will definitely not be bored when you visit Singapore, and neither will your children. Instead, you will all find that you are having so much fun that you will want to take notes so that all your vacations are this amazing!
As always, Kooshy Kids wishes you happy and safe travels x
